Police officers will take intensified measures and actions near schools on the occasion of the start of the new school year – children's safety and creating a secure environment for students is a priority

On the occasion of the start of the new school year, Director of the Police Administration Lazar Šćepanović issued orders to police officers to implement intensified measures and actions near school facilities, with a special emphasis on children's safety and the safety of all traffic participants, as well as maintaining stable public order and peace in school zones. Police officers will be more present near school facilities from the beginning of the school year, especially during arrival and departure times, to ensure safe traffic flow, prevent illegal stopping and parking, and respond promptly to security challenges. During September and October, the Police Administration, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, will carry out a series of preventive-educational activities aimed at students, including panels, workshops, and other educational content, with a focus on preventing peer violence, cyberbullying, and other risks children may face. The Police Administration will also pay special attention to strengthening preventive actions within the school environment, in collaboration with schools, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, local communities, and other relevant entities. At the same time, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation will initiate an initiative to engage security guards in school facilities, who, in addition to their other duties, will be involved in activities aimed at improving school safety. Throughout the school year, the Police Administration will monitor the situation in the school environment and, based on assessments and needs on the ground, will take appropriate measures and actions to ensure a safe and conducive environment for students' education and development.
