Podgorica: Police identified and detained person suspected of sending insults and threats to Minister Ibrahimović via Facebook

Officials from the Podgorica Department of Security identified and, upon the order of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, detained S.B (52) from Podgorica for threats and insults sent via the social network Facebook to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović. Police officers acted based on posts related to this and identified S.B as the person suspected of sending insults and threats to Minister Ibrahimović. The public prosecutor in the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed, who stated that there are no elements of a criminal offense, and that the case pertains to a misdemeanor under articles 15 and 36 of the Law on Protection of Equality and Prohibition of Discrimination, related to hate speech based on intolerance in the form of nationalism and discrimination against minority peoples and other minority communities. S.B was detained upon the order of the competent prosecutor and will be brought before the misdemeanor court in Podgorica with a request to initiate misdemeanor proceedings. Police continue activities to identify other individuals who sent insults and threats to Minister Ibrahimović via the mentioned social network. The threats and insults followed a post by Minister Ibrahimović on the social network X, which was also reported by other media, and the post was a reaction to the news of the final judgment in the case of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.
