Ivanović and Šahavdinov: Montenegro and Uzbekistan are committed to strengthening political and economic cooperation
Vice President Ivanović expressed satisfaction with the development dynamics of bilateral relations, emphasizing that the signing of the Memorandum of Consultations and Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025, is a positive step. The interlocutors paid special attention to the economic relations between the two countries, assessing that there is significant room for improvement in areas such as energy, tourism, agriculture and food industry, textiles, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and digitalization. Vice President Ivanović highlighted that Montenegro, as the most advanced candidate for EU membership, closely monitors the development of partnership between the European Union and Uzbekistan, believing that strengthening relations between Tashkent and Brussels will further contribute to bilateral cooperation with Montenegro. Ambassador Šahavdinov discussed potential cooperation in security, including collaboration between police academies and forensic institutions, seeing mutual interest in developing concrete projects in these areas. Ambassador Šahavdinov thanked for the warm reception and emphasized that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to its relations with Montenegro, considering friendly relations and a shared commitment to intensifying political dialogue as a solid foundation for further strengthening of partnership. At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors confirmed their readiness to continue intensive political dialogue and implement concrete initiatives that will contribute to further strengthening the friendly relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Uzbekistan, to the mutual benefit of the citizens and economies of both countries.
