Radulović: Montenegro continues aligning its transport sector with European standards

Montenegro has made significant progress in integrating its transport sector with the European Union, especially through aligning legislation with EU legal frameworks and advancing negotiations in chapters 14 – Transport Policy and 21 – Trans-European Networks, said Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović, speaking at the 'Connecting Europe Days' conference held in Brussels. Minister Radulović specifically highlighted the maritime sector, emphasizing that Montenegro continues to align with the requirements of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and relevant international conventions. At the same time, increased inspection oversight further strengthens control over maritime traffic, Radulović noted. The minister also stressed that an important part of the overall transport strategy is the development of the Port of Bar as a regional logistics and transport hub. Improving port infrastructure, including dredging works, along with modernization of rail and road infrastructure, aims to better connect Montenegro with European transport corridors, Radulović said. During his speech, Minister Radulović conveyed that over the next two years, the focus will be on ensuring that the transport system is ready to operate within the single European market, not just on paper but in practice.
