RiSKER: Tool for Planning Surveillance of Harmful Plant Organisms

The RiSKER (Risk of Spread Kernel-based) interactive tool is available on the r4EU platform, helping experts assess the relative risk of harmful plant organisms in different geographic areas and use these results for surveillance planning. By changing parameters such as spread distance, users can examine how various scenarios affect the estimated relative risk. The tool is based on EFSA methodologies and employs a local spread model using data obtained from expert assessments of annual spread. The results can support prioritizing surveillance, developing research plans, and allocating resources. Its application can contribute to more systematic plant health surveillance planning by justifying area selection based on risk assessment. RiSKER is accessible on the r4EU platform, with more information available at: https://zenodo.org/records/21821237
