Total Achieved Positive Effects of Hedging Arrangement for Loan with Chinese EXIM Bank Amount to 93.4 Million Euros

The total financial effect of the hedging arrangements implemented by the Ministry of Finance for a loan with the Chinese Exim Bank reached approximately 93.4 million euros, confirming the justification and success of the public debt management policy. The Ministry of Finance, in accordance with the repayment plan, duly and timely settled the eleventh installment of the loan for the construction of the first section of the Bar–Boljare highway, which was due on the 21st. The effects of hedging arrangements are not assessed based on individual installments or short-term movements in the foreign exchange market, but through their overall financial result over the entire period. Thanks to the implemented hedging arrangements, Montenegro's public debt structure is now almost entirely aligned with the euro, with about 99% of the public debt denominated in the local currency. After settling the eleventh installment, the debt status for the loan with the Chinese Exim Bank amounts to 557.36 million USD, or 512.89 million euros, with the final repayment scheduled for January 2035. The Ministry of Finance will continue to monitor international financial market trends and analyze the effects of hedging arrangements to make decisions that ensure fiscal stability and the most favorable conditions for public debt management, in accordance with market conditions and national interests.
