Trust Is the Foundation of Montenegro’s and the Region’s Digital Path Toward a European Future

The decisions made today will shape the competitiveness and opportunities available tomorrow, which is why it is important to invest immediately in expertise, infrastructure and partnership. Trust is the foundation of Montenegro’s and the region’s digital path toward a European future. This was the message from the ministerial meeting held as part of the eighth Digital Summit of the Western Balkans, organized by the Ministry of Public Administration under the auspices of the Government of Montenegro, in partnership with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and within Montenegro’s chairmanship of the Berlin Process. Expectations for the Regional Cyber Capacity Centre (WB3C) are high, with the next phase envisioned as the establishment of a permanent system of training and cooperation that will strengthen the resilience of all six Western Balkan economies. “I believe that bilateral meetings and meetings like this are important for exchanging experiences about what is happening in Albania—not only so that we can reach the next goal, but also so that we can mitigate the challenges we all face, because developments regarding access to services are clearly opening very important discussions on this topic, concerning trust,” Muçaj said. We need clear, structured data to train our systems and then use AI, which will help us accelerate and simplify the process. She believes that all countries have competent people who can develop technological solutions, and that this is not the problem; the challenge is choosing the service that is needed—“one that we can agree on, implement, and make acceptable to all stakeholders and all Western Balkan countries.”
