National Workshop to Validate the Meta-Brief on Fire Management in Montenegro

The National Workshop to Validate the Meta-Brief on Landscape-Level Fire Management in Montenegro was held yesterday in Podgorica as part of the “Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans” (LFMWB) programme. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management also attended the workshop. The aim was to present and discuss the draft Meta-Brief, a document containing recommendations for improving public policies, the legislative framework, institutional coordination and cross-sectoral cooperation in the field of wildfire management. Through expert discussion, participants had the opportunity to review the proposed recommendations, identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to aligning the priority measures to be included in the final version of the document. The workshop was particularly important for strengthening cooperation among institutions and other relevant stakeholders, given that effective fire management requires a coordinated approach, preventive action and links between different sectors. By participating in this process, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management is contributing to the consideration of recommendations and the improvement of Montenegro’s fire-management system, with particular emphasis on conserving forests and other natural resources, protecting landscapes and managing land sustainably. The workshop represents the final step in the consultative process for validating the Meta-Brief, which will serve as a basis for further improving policies and measures in the field of fire management.
