Kordić at the Coordination Body session: More than 2.66 million tourists in the first nine months
More than 2.66 million tourists visited Montenegro in the first nine months, an increase of over ten percent compared with the previous year, Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić announced. “During the same period, more than 14.8 million overnight stays were recorded, nine percent more than the previous year,” Kordić said after a session of the Coordination Body for the preparation and monitoring of the tourist seasons, organized today by the Ministry of Tourism. “The figures for September are particularly encouraging, with almost 19 percent more tourists and nearly 15 percent more overnight stays than during the same period last year. Compared with the previous year, the increase is almost 28 percent in terms of the number of tourists and more than 20 percent in terms of overnight stays,” Kordić specified. Kordić said these figures are not merely statistics, but a clear indication that Montenegro is continuously strengthening its position on the international market and that the opening of a large number of new source markets is already producing significant results amid global circumstances that have been full of challenges this year. The session also focused on upcoming challenges, one of the most serious being the introduction of visas for certain markets due to the obligation to align with the European Union’s visa regime.
