Support for the Research and Preservation of the Indigenous Kratošija Variety
Based on the decision of the Government of Montenegro, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro. Signatories of the Agreement also include the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, the European Order of Wine Knights - Legatura Montenegro, and the company "13. July Plantaže" AD Podgorica. The agreement was concluded to provide institutional and financial support for the continuation of the research project "Investigation of the Kratošija variety and the genetic heritage of grapevine in Montenegro." A total of 60,000 euros has been allocated for this purpose — 25,000 euros from the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, 20,000 euros from "13. July Plantaže" AD Podgorica, 5,000 euros from the Ministry of Culture and Media, 5,000 euros from the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, and 5,000 euros from the European Order of Wine Knights - Legatura Montenegro. The project includes field research and sample collection, genetic analyses and characterization of the Kratošija variety, investigation of its genetic heritage and connections with other grapevine varieties, as well as processing, interpretation, and promotion of research results.
