Krapović with German ambassador on strengthening defense cooperation and support for Montenegro on its EU path
The minister emphasized the importance of defense relations with the Federal Republic of Germany, highlighting that current geopolitical circumstances require unified action among allies. He informed the ambassador that for this year, defense expenditures over 2% of GDP are planned, aiming to reach this target by 2035. Minister Krapović also shared updates on ongoing projects to modernize the capacities of the Montenegrin Army and the current engagement of Montenegrin soldiers in international missions and operations. Regarding the EU enlargement policy and Montenegro's main foreign policy priority of EU membership, Krapović thanked Germany for its continuous support and highlighted its key stabilizing role in the Western Balkans. Ambassador Gansen praised Montenegro's successful progress toward European integration and expressed confidence that Germany will continue supporting Montenegro in achieving full EU membership. Additionally, the ambassador reaffirmed his country's commitment to ongoing cooperation with Montenegro through various projects and activities, expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to learn about the current developments in Montenegro's defense system.
