Workshop Held to Strengthen Capacities within the ECOBASE Project

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, in cooperation with the Center for Climate Change, Natural Resources, and Energy at the University of Donja Gorica, successfully organized a two-day capacity-building workshop within the ECOBASE project, implemented through the Interreg IPA ADRION program. It took place in July at the Innovation-Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis in Nikšić and gathered representatives from government institutions, local governments, the academic community, and other relevant stakeholders from the fields of environmental protection, land management, and sustainable development. Participants were welcomed by Milena Vukotić, Head of the Department for International Cooperation and IPA Projects at the Ministry, and Dr. Ivana Vojinović, Director of the Center for Climate Change, Natural Resources, and Energy at the University of Donja Gorica, who emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional and professional capacities for sustainable land resource management and the application of nature-based solutions. During the two-day program, key topics such as soil quality, testing and monitoring, land degradation processes, biodiversity protection, and the implementation of environmentally friendly, nature-based solutions were discussed. Through interactive discussions, participants exchanged experiences and identified recommendations for improving intersectoral cooperation, strengthening institutional capacities, and applying sustainable land management practices. The workshop also contributed to enhancing collaboration between institutions, the scientific community, and other relevant actors, laying the groundwork for further activities aimed at conserving land resources and increasing resilience to climate change.
