New Regulation on Smoke Flavors in Food
A regulation has been adopted regarding smoke flavors used or intended for use in and on food. The regulation was published in the "Official Gazette of Montenegro," issue 134/2026 dated 14. The specific requirements for smoke flavors have been prescribed to protect human health and consumer interests. Only approved primary smoke condensates, primary tar fractions, and substances from the list of approved substances can be used in food. The regulation further aligns Montenegrin legislation with relevant European Union regulations.
