Montenegro progresses: Moody’s upgrades credit rating to Ba2

This decision represents a strong confirmation of the results Montenegro is achieving through implementing reforms, strengthening institutions, and accelerating its European path. Since the beginning of the 44th mandate, Moody’s upgrade directly links to progress in implementing structural reforms within the EU accession process, contributing to the lasting strengthening of the country's institutional framework. Montenegro has made significant advances on its European journey, including the preliminary closure of 18 new negotiation chapters. This further confirms the dynamics of Montenegro's progress toward EU membership. Moody’s assessment that the scope and dynamics of reforms are above expectations indicates improved government efficiency, strengthened administrative capacities, and a strong commitment to institutional modernization. The reforms further bring Montenegro closer to European standards and create a more stable and predictable environment for citizens, the economy, and investors. The positive outlook on the credit rating is an additional confirmation of Montenegro’s potential.
