NGI Assure wants security and privacy guarantees
NGI Assure was established with support from the European Commission to fund research and development of free and open source technologies that provide strong assurances about how we perceive the internet and how it functions. The European Commission's Next Generation Internet program has funded NGI Assure to support research into technical guarantees for a trustworthy internet. Addressing issues like distinguishing fake from real, secure from dangerous, and confidentiality from false trust in technology is crucial. The new fund exceeds 5.6 million euros, succeeding the NGI Zero PET fund, which allocated over 150 projects across 37 countries in two years, making it the largest project within the Next Generation Internet initiative. Selected projects may also receive additional support such as security reviews and mentoring programs aimed at enhancing the sustainability of free and open source efforts. NGI Assure contributes to re-imagining and re-engineering a trustworthy, reliable, and sustainable internet as part of the European Commission's initiative.
