Montenegro Offers Significant Opportunities for Investment in Tourism

Montenegro offers significant opportunities for investment in tourism, while investors’ experiences show that developing new projects, a stable business environment and cooperation with local partners can help strengthen the tourism offering and the economy, it was assessed at a panel in Podgorica. The panel presented Montenegro’s priority tourism investment projects and was held as part of an Investment Forum at the Hilton Hotel. It was noted that although the country is small, it has much to offer. “This year, total turnover in all stores increased by more than 20 percent,” Zeev said at the Investment Forum, held as part of the two-day UN Tourism Interregional Forum hosted by Montenegro. Kotor Cable Car director Ana Ivanović said that the Kotor–Lovćen cable car has been a successful story for three years, that 95 percent of its visitors are foreigners, and that more than half a million people have already visited. Casa del Mare owner Nikola Milić said that an exceptional opportunity could lie in developing know-how and eventually offering the market management services for small hotels. “I am proud that we perhaps learned about the hotel business in a somewhat more difficult way, and each subsequent property was easier to open,” Nikola Milić said, noting that their investments are significantly concentrated in the village of Kamenari.
