Adopted Amendments to the Higher Education Law

The Parliament of Montenegro has adopted amendments to the Higher Education Law, creating conditions for improving the organization of classes in the study program for medical nurses for general health care at the University of Montenegro. The amendments allow classes to be conducted over two semesters of 15 teaching weeks each, ensuring a higher quality and more sustainable model of the study program. This change aligns the education system with European Union standards, which require at least three years of education and at least 4,600 hours of theoretical and clinical training. The new organization of classes will enable a more balanced distribution of theoretical and practical training, better organization of teaching activities, and more effective achievement of learning outcomes. The proposed changes contribute to the automatic recognition of nursing qualifications in EU member states, improve their professional status, and facilitate the accreditation of the study program. By adopting these amendments, the quality of higher education is enhanced, the healthcare system is strengthened through better training of future medical staff, and conditions are created for internationally recognized qualifications, representing an important contribution to Montenegro's European integration process.
