Police warn about fraudulent SMS messages; do not take any actions requested in the messages

The police department informs citizens that in recent days there has been frequent sending of fraudulent SMS messages to citizens of Montenegro and advises them not to respond to these messages or take any actions requested, including sharing personal data. These scam messages contain malicious phishing links along with notifications that the recipient's account will be suspended if they do not update their personal information. If you receive such a message, do not enter any of your personal data via SMS or any other communication app. This is an example of a phishing attack where the sender tries to deceive you into revealing your username, password, bank card details, or unknowingly installing malicious software on your device. Always pay attention to the links you visit, files you download, and ignore unexpected emails and SMS messages to avoid financial and material damage. We remind you that protecting personal data and communication is extremely important, and negligence can lead to financial consequences and other abuses, including misuse of personal accounts and further distribution of scam messages.
