New Regulation on Sampling Methods and Analytical Techniques for the Control of Dioxins and PCBs in Food
The Official Gazette of Montenegro No. 95/2026 published the Regulation establishing sampling methods and analytical techniques for controlling levels of dioxins, dioxin-like PCBs, and non-dioxin-like PCBs in certain foods, which came into force on the 11th. The regulation prescribes sampling methods, laboratory testing, and monitoring procedures to control the presence of dioxins, dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and non-dioxin-like PCBs in specific foods. This regulation transposes EU Regulation 2017/644 into Montenegrin legislation, establishing uniform requirements for sampling and analytical methods in the control of these contaminants in food. The adoption of this regulation further strengthens the capacities of official control systems and ensures reliable monitoring of chemical contaminants, in accordance with European Union standards for food safety.
