Maritime Safety Authority coordinated medical evacuation of a health-compromised crew member from a Dutch ship at Bar port
After receiving a help call at 17:39, the Maritime Safety Authority promptly and according to procedure informed the Emergency Medical Assistance Institute in Bar, which transported the patient to the ship by boat. Following a medical examination and coordination with other institutions, it was decided to urgently deploy a helicopter for evacuation and life-saving treatment. The Montenegro Police Operations Center coordinated the further deployment of the Air Force helicopter, which approved its use, and the patient was efficiently and successfully transported to a hospital in Bar for further care. The Authority emphasizes that this was the first MEDEVAC operation involving an aircraft, with participation from the Bar Port Authority, Bar Emergency Medical Assistance Institute, the OKC Directorate for Protection and Rescue, the Navy Operations Center, and the Montenegro Air Force - Ministry of Defense. The Maritime Safety Authority thanks all participants for their professional effort and successful inter-institutional cooperation, enabling timely and safe medical evacuation.
