Ibrahimović's Statement in Front of the Srebrenica Flower at the United Nations

Today, in front of the Srebrenica flower at the United Nations, I take the opportunity to express, on my own and on behalf of Montenegro, respect for the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, to send a message to their families and survivors that we understand their pain and sympathize with them, but also that we are with them in the shared task of protecting the truth about the genocide in Srebrenica. This memorial represents a permanent place of remembrance for the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, but also a symbol of global awareness of the gravity of the genocide committed in Srebrenica and the need to preserve the truth and memory as a lasting warning that we must safeguard peace, human dignity, and respect for the victims, survivors, and their families. This is a place where we must remember the mothers of Srebrenica, who, through their activism after losing their loved ones—unparalleled by anything—find the strength to promote peace and build a better future with dignity and courage. Montenegro will continue to nurture the culture of remembrance, respect established facts, and advocate for societies where genocides like Srebrenica will never happen again.
