National campaigns
Traffic police officers from the Podgorica Security Department conducted the national campaign "Young Driver," aimed at increasing safety for this category of participants in traffic, during which a total of 27 young drivers were sanctioned. Of the total number of sanctions, 15 drivers were caught driving after midnight, i.e., between 00:00 and 05:00, while 12 drivers were operating vehicles with engine power exceeding 80 kW. We remind that, according to the Road Traffic Safety Law, a young driver under 21 years old is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle between 00:00 and 05:00, nor a category B vehicle with engine power over 80 kW, unless under the supervision of a person who is in the vehicle and has at least five years of valid driving license for category B. Additionally, officers from the Podgorica Security Department and the Mobile Traffic Police Unit conducted this morning, from 08:00 to 10:00, the "Pojas" campaign, with a special focus on checking seat belt usage by drivers and passengers in vehicles within the territory of the Capital. During the campaign, 65 drivers and passengers were fined for not using seat belts. Through such activities, the Police Department aims to influence behavior change and increase safety levels through preventive measures and intensified controls, especially among young drivers and vehicle passengers.
