Start of Implementation of Montenegro-U.S. Agreement on Strategic Projects

Following the signing of the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the United States on cooperation in implementing strategic projects, on the 24th, the Ministry of Public Works, headed by Minister Majda Adžović, who signed the Agreement on behalf of the Government of Montenegro in Washington, in accordance with Article 3 of the Agreement, submitted the first two strategic projects to the American side through the new framework of cooperation between Montenegro and the United States. These are the Adriatic-Ionian Corridor, a strategic infrastructure project that integrates transportation, energy, and digital infrastructure to improve regional connectivity of Montenegro, and the National Cargo Scanning and Border Control Modernization Project, aimed at enhancing customs capacities, more efficient cargo control, and strengthening border security. By submitting these projects, the Agreement enters a phase of concrete implementation, opening space for stronger partnership with the American side and realization of projects of strategic importance for Montenegro. The proposed projects represent the first concrete step in utilizing the mechanisms of the Agreement and open possibilities for further shaping and implementing joint initiatives of mutual interest. The Government of Montenegro will continue to create conditions for the development and realization of strategic projects that are important for infrastructure modernization, economic development, and long-term strengthening of Montenegro's international connectivity through this new cooperation framework with the United States.
