Border police found 9.7 kg of tobacco during vehicle inspection in Zaton; criminal charges to be filed against the person who procured and transported the tobacco
Border police officers discovered and seized tobacco suspected to be intended for illegal trade. Mobile unit officers of the Regional Border Police Center "North" conducted a control of a passenger vehicle "Renault Megane" driven by V.B (48), a Montenegrin citizen, in Zaton, Bijelo Polje municipality. During the inspection, 19 packs of cut tobacco weighing a total of 9.7 kilograms were found in the trunk, for which the individual did not possess the necessary documentation. Criminal investigation suggests that V.B, without authorization for trade, purchased the tobacco for resale and profit. After taking measures and actions, the event was reported to the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, who ordered the confiscation of the found tobacco and the filing of criminal charges against the individual for suspicion of committing the crime of illegal trade.
