Do you have a valuable idea in the field of network and internet technology, and are you looking for financial resources to make your idea possible? The foundation supports initiatives that are of strategic importance to the open information society, particularly for the development and popularization of open standards and (network-oriented) open source technology. This ranges from software development, standardization work, and educational materials to security tools and support for digital civil rights activities. An important condition is that any software resulting from a project must be made available under an approved open source license (GPL, BSD, Apache, etc.). Projects requiring significantly more budget than what is available through NLnet's open registration are advised to schedule a meeting with one of our staff to discuss possibilities. Currently, several dozen projects and organizations receive financial support, including the research lab NLnet Labs, Unhosted, Lantern Project, Calligra Suite, WebODF, AbiWord, Serval, Jitsi, 0cpm, and Internet Society.
