Berane: Criminal Complaint Against Operationally Interesting Person for Forest Theft in Jelovica Area

Officials of the Regional Security Center "North" – Berane Security Department, as part of activities aimed at combating illegal logging and other unlawful activities in forestry, filed a criminal complaint with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Berane against an operationally interesting person, D.L. (35) from Berane, based on reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of forest theft. Police officers had previously filed a criminal complaint against this person for the same offense. On Jelovica mountain, he illegally cut a total of seven logs with a total wood volume of 4.63 m³. Acting within their jurisdiction, police officers from the Criminal Police Station of the Berane Security Department conducted a control of a cargo motor vehicle driven by the suspect in Hareme, Berane municipality, where the aforementioned wood mass was found. Police continue to intensify activities in the fight against environmental crime, which is one of the national priorities, as well as activities to prevent illegal logging, detect and prosecute perpetrators, in order to preserve and protect Montenegro's natural resources.
