Public Consultation on Draft Law on Management and Maintenance of Residential Buildings

Yesterday, a roundtable was held at the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and State Property as part of the Public Consultation on the Draft Law on Management and Maintenance of Residential Buildings. Participants included representatives from the Ministry, government institutions, local governments, and the private sector. Acting Director of the Housing Directorate, Slavica Stankov, emphasized in her introductory speech that the current Law on Maintenance of Residential Buildings was adopted in 2016, with amendments and supplements, and that there is a need to adopt a new Law to address ambiguities and legal gaps identified during its implementation. She highlighted key innovations of the Draft Law, noting that it introduces significant systemic changes compared to the existing Law, aimed at solving practical problems, improving financial control, introducing professional standards, and consolidating legal matters in this area. During the roundtable, a constructive discussion took place, allowing participants to exchange opinions, raise questions and challenges related to the proposed legal solutions, and provide specific comments, proposals, and suggestions. After the public consultation concludes, the Ministry will consider all remarks, proposals, and suggestions and prepare a Report on the conducted public consultation.
