Final preparations for the Ministerial Conference in Podgorica
The plenary session of the Supervisory Board of the Council of Europe's Education (CDEDU), which discussed key issues of European educational policy, as well as preparations for the 27th session of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education of the Council of Europe, to be held on the 3rd. CDEDU approved the final version of the European Education Area for Citizens, a new initiative of the Council of Europe that will be officially launched at the Ministerial Conference in Podgorica. The committee also supported the general direction of the first draft of the White Paper on the future of teachers and the teaching profession, as well as further activities of the Council of Europe to strengthen the protection of academic freedom. The session tentatively supported the draft Ministerial Resolution on empowering teachers for a democratic Europe in the digital age, which will be adopted at the Conference. The upcoming conference in Podgorica will bring together education ministers and high representatives of member states of the Council of Europe, as well as representatives of international and partner organizations and the educational community, and will be dedicated to the future of the teaching profession and the role of education in preserving and developing democratic societies in the context of accelerated digital transformation.
