Criminal complaint for usury: Borrowed 5,500, charged about 28,000 euros in usury interest

Officers of the Podgorica Department of Security, conducting ongoing activities to detect, clarify, and prove crimes in the field of property crime, have clarified the crime of usury and today, upon the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, filed a criminal complaint against a person from Podgorica. Due to suspicion that he committed the crime of usury, a criminal complaint was filed against S.R., the injured party, who borrowed 5,500 euros, after which, exploiting his difficult financial situation, he contracted and charged usury interest of 10 percent monthly. From the time the complaint was filed until now, he collected about 28,000 euros in usury interest, even though the injured party fully repaid the debt in the meantime, which led S.R. to accuse the injured party of an alleged additional debt of 9,000 euros. The police will continue with intensive activities to detect, clarify, and prosecute all forms of crime, including crimes of usury that exploit citizens' difficult financial situations, hardships, and needs for illegal financial gain.
