Berane suspect for forest theft; criminal report to follow due to illegal logging of timber
Officers of the Berane Department will file a criminal complaint with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Berane against F.Č (19) from Berane, suspected of committing the crime of forest theft. Police officers, acting on operational data, stopped a cargo motor vehicle of the brand "Mercedes" on the Berane – Petnjica regional road, in Vrbica – Petnjica Municipality, driven by F.Č, and found about eight cubic meters of cut timber without identification plates and forest mark – illegally cut wood mass. The public prosecutor in Berane has been informed about the incident. The Forest Management and Hunting Administration officers have been instructed to determine the location where the timber was illegally cut. Having established essential elements of the crime of forest theft, a criminal complaint against the suspect will be submitted in regular proceedings upon the prosecutor's order. Police continue intensive activities in the fight against environmental crime, which is one of the national priorities, as well as activities to prevent illegal logging, detect and prosecute offenders, in order to preserve and protect Montenegro's natural resources.
