Ministry of Public Administration and Ministry of the Interior improve the electronic identification and user authentication system (NS eID) for easier use of electronic ID cards

The Ministry of Public Administration, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, has improved the NS eID system for electronic identification and user authentication, enabling citizens to use electronic identity cards more easily, quickly, and efficiently when accessing electronic services. The implementation of new functionalities on the NS eID system via the X-Road platform enables the automated retrieval of data from the Central Population Register maintained by the Ministry of the Interior. This has significantly simplified the process of registering a user account and an electronic identity card as a high-assurance means of electronic identification on the NS eID system. Citizens with an activated electronic identity card can now use an automated registration process without manually entering their data, making electronic services easier to use and improving the user experience. In addition to electronic identity cards, citizens can also register and use, on the NS eID system, electronic certificates issued by the Post of Montenegro. These certificates provide a high-assurance means of electronic identification and contain the citizen’s identification number. This improvement is particularly important for users of the Professional Training Programme, with around 3,000 higher-education graduates expected to register successfully on the NS eID system more easily and efficiently when using the service.
