EU changed rules for shipments valued up to 150 euros
The years brought the decision to abolish the customs exemption previously in place for packages valued up to 150 euros. As a temporary solution, they decided to introduce a customs duty of 3 euros per ordered item in the EU, starting from the 1st. Removing the threshold aims to equalize conditions between online sales and traditional retail, restoring fairness while preserving consumer choice. This solution applies in the EU until July 2028, after which, when customs reform becomes operational for e-commerce, standard customs rates will apply. In 2023, a fee for handling imported goods into the EU will also be introduced to compensate for the increasing costs of customs authorities. In accordance with the current legal framework, the Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Customs Administration, is working on aligning regulations with EU legal standards, and any potential changes will be implemented through the prescribed legislative procedure.
