Ibrahimović with Governor Mills: Two Decades of Montenegro-Maine Partnership Confirming Strong US Relations

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Ervin Ibrahimović, met today with Maine Governor Janet Mills, who is visiting Montenegro to mark 20 years of partnership between the Montenegrin Army and the Maine National Guard. Ibrahimović emphasized that the United States is Montenegro's most important strategic partner and ally, highlighting that American presence and engagement are key factors for peace, stability, and security in the Western Balkans. "Twenty years of Montenegro-Maine partnership demonstrates how significant this cooperation is for developing our defense capabilities and strengthening the Montenegrin Army institutionally. At the same time, this year is especially important as we mark 20 years of Montenegro's independence and 250 years of U.S. independence," said Ibrahimović. In this context, he highlighted the Adriatic-Ionian corridor as an important opportunity for American companies to participate in regional development projects. The interlocutors expressed readiness to further develop Montenegro-Maine partnership, nurturing cooperation that has been an important part of overall Montenegro-U.S. relations for two decades.
