Call for the Commemoration of European Heritage Days 2026

The Ministry of Culture and Media invites all interested stakeholders to participate and create diverse programs/manifestations, lectures, gatherings, festivals, workshops, exhibitions, panels, virtual programs, presentations, and similar events aimed at children and adults, as part of the European Heritage Days, which will be held from September 21. European Heritage Days are celebrated every September across Europe under the patronage of the European Commission and the Council of Europe, through organizing events at local and national levels, in accordance with a unified theme chosen at the European level. This event, celebrated by all signatory states of the European Convention on Culture, gathers thousands of events across Europe to strengthen awareness of our shared European heritage and the ongoing need for its protection, promoting inclusivity and encouraging creativity. The theme for 2026 is “Endangered Heritage: Revive, Preserve, Redefine,” aiming to draw attention to the urgent need for action and creativity in protecting our cultural heritage, as well as the importance of intergenerational knowledge, oral storytelling, and the power of cultural expression during times of crisis. In the modern world, our collective cultural and natural heritage faces numerous challenges; therefore, this theme raises awareness of the many risks threatening it, from climate change and natural disasters to social and technological pressures, prompting reflection on how we can preserve and value what remains. When selecting programs, the Ministry of Culture and Media will particularly evaluate submissions. The program must be submitted via email to kulturna.bastina@mku.gov.me no later than the 15th.
