Vujović: GMIFF from next year a festival of special significance for Montenegro's culture

Art through film raises important questions for modern society and helps us better understand the relationship between humans and the nature surrounding them, said Vujović. She reminded that the Ministry of Culture and Media recognized the festival's importance for the development of Montenegro's cultural scene, promotion of film art, and strengthening international cooperation. As part of the public competition for co-financing projects and programs in the field of cultural-artistic events and festivals for 2026, ecological messages become more universal, understandable, and powerful, Vujović added. "The unique feature of the Green Montenegro International Film Festival is the connection between culture and ecology. That is why this festival is needed for both artistic and ecological Montenegro," she concluded. Over eleven previous editions, the festival showcased hundreds of works from numerous countries and created a platform for promoting documentary, feature, short, and student films. Its international character is further confirmed by membership in the Green Film Network, a network connecting festivals, authors, and organizations dedicated to ecology and sustainable development.
