Deputy Prime Minister Bečić on the Adoption of Constitutional Reforms

A beautiful day has dawned following last night’s, post-midnight decision by the Montenegrin Parliament and the adoption of constitutional reforms. I would like to congratulate all 56 MPs who demonstrated maturity, wisdom, and responsibility, because European integration and the great historic European opportunity that has arisen for Montenegro stand above any party, individual, or particular interest. In the end, they demanded that a two-thirds majority for the adoption of a law defining the issue of integrity be guaranteed through a new constitutional amendment. A retreat from their own demands and from European integration—but I will leave it to citizens to judge where maturity and sincerity reside, and where political bluffing does. In any case, we are moving forward, determinedly, because we are one step away from achieving the goal and fulfilling the great dream of many generations.
