Authentic Political Participation of Minority Peoples Is Key to Further Improving Democratic Processes in Montenegro

Authentic political participation of minority peoples and other minority national communities is one of the key prerequisites for the full affirmation of minority rights and equal participation of all citizens in decision-making processes, said Arben Xhurreta from the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights. In his introductory speech, Arben Xhurreta, acting director general, emphasized that Montenegro has a good legislative and institutional framework for the protection of minority rights, which is continuously being improved. He added that open dialogue between institutions, civil society organizations, and representatives of minority communities contributes to improving public policies, strengthening mutual trust, and creating conditions for more active participation of minority communities in the social and political life of Montenegro, which is one of the priorities of the Ministry. Minority peoples and other minority national communities are recognized as partners in all processes that include Montenegro in important initiatives and alliances.
