Workshop Held to Strengthen Montenegro’s International Development Cooperation System
A workshop dedicated to strengthening Montenegro’s international development cooperation system was held at the premises of the Red Cross of Montenegro, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro with the support of the OECD Development Co-operation Directorate and the Republic of Slovenia. The workshop was opened by Radovan Bogojević, Director General for Economic and Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Montenegro. From the OECD’s perspective, the importance of aligning with international standards and good practices was emphasized, as was the value of exchanging experiences and providing expert support to Montenegro in further developing an effective, coordinated and transparent international development cooperation system. The foundations for a more systematic and coordinated approach were laid, while the adoption of the first International Development Cooperation and International Humanitarian Assistance Programme, together with its Action Plan for 2026, marked further progress. Participants exchanged experiences on defining and recording official development assistance (ODA), institutional models for coordination and reporting, and the challenges countries face when building their own international development cooperation systems. OECD experts and representatives of partner countries, Croatia and the Czech Republic, made a significant contribution to the discussion by presenting relevant international standards, practical solutions and examples of good practice important for the further development of Montenegro’s national international development cooperation system.
