Montenegro and Sweden: Space for stronger partnership in energy

The Minister of Energy and Mining, Admir Šahmanović, met today with the Swedish ambassador to Montenegro, Charlotte Sammelin, to discuss opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, as well as Sweden's experiences in implementing energy reforms and developing a sustainable energy sector. Minister Šahmanović emphasized that Sweden is an important partner for Montenegro in the process of modernizing the energy sector, especially considering its experience in developing renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and the application of new technologies. He noted that countries like Sweden have shown how energy transition can be linked to economic development, competitiveness, and citizens' quality of life. Ambassador Sammelin expressed Sweden's readiness to deepen cooperation with Montenegro and exchange knowledge and experiences in areas vital for the development of the energy sector. The meeting concluded that there is room for more concrete connections between institutions, experts, and companies from both countries, particularly in renewable energy, energy efficiency, new technologies, and sustainable energy system development. The Swedish delegation, led by Ambassador Sammelin, included Maja Zorić from Business Sweden, Bojana Maljukanović from the Swedish Embassy, John Glykos, CEO of Scytales, and Jessica Rutley, a consultant at Business Sweden.
