In Italy, Montenegrin citizen arrested on Interpol Red Notice from NCB Podgorica; suspected of forming a criminal organization and smuggling
Italian police officers yesterday, acting on an international arrest warrant issued by NCB Interpol Podgorica, detained Montenegrin citizen V.V. (44), who was wanted internationally for criminal proceedings suspected of committing crimes of forming a criminal organization and extended criminal offense of smuggling. The warrant was issued based on an order from the Higher Court in Podgorica to apprehend him and ensure his presence in the criminal proceedings against him before the competent judicial authorities of Montenegro. The suspect is included in an indictment by the Special State Prosecutor's Office, which accuses him of being a member of an organized criminal group allegedly composed of D.G., S.S., N.S., A.P., and others, operating to smuggle cigarettes in 2020. Further communication and exchange of documentation between the competent authorities of Italy and Montenegro, specifically the ministries of justice of both countries, are underway to facilitate V.V.'s extradition process.
