Fourth Joint Transnational Call for Research and Innovation Funding

The deadline for submitting a preliminary project proposal is 16/11/2026, 15:00 CET. The deadline for submitting a full proposal is 14/06/2027, 15:00 CEST. The fourth call is branded by the UN Ocean Science Decade as a means to promote new initiatives in jointly designed and implemented knowledge creation and solutions for a sustainable ocean economy, within the Ocean Decade Action Framework. The partnership, involving 32 countries, commits to leveraging sustainable solutions to accelerate the green and digital transition of economic activities related to the ocean, seas, and coasts. The fourth joint call aims to support transnational research and innovation projects lasting 36 months that address one of four priority areas (aligned with the funded priorities of participating countries): Each of these areas directly contributes to one or more challenges of the Ocean Decade, supporting the creation of applicable knowledge, policy adoption, capacity development, and inclusive innovation in the context of the blue economy. Proposals are recommended to cover at least two EU marine basins: Atlantic Ocean, Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and North Sea, and to assess impact and potential for replication/scalability across different basins. Projects may target European regional seas such as the Adriatic, Aegean, Arctic, Barents, Celtic, etc., but must include at least two different EU marine basins. The call involves 20 EU member states, 7 associated countries, and 1 third country: Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro – through the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation as the funding organization, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine.
