Minister of Finance Mr. Novica Vuković Discusses with Canadian Ambassador Michelle Li Cameron: Strong Support for Montenegro's European Path and New Economic Cooperation Opportunities

Minister of Finance Mr. Novica Vuković met with the Canadian ambassador to Montenegro, Michelle Li Cameron. The focus of the discussion was Montenegro's European integration, strengthening economic relations between the two countries, and opportunities for new investments. Minister Vuković emphasized that Montenegro is achieving visible results in implementing reforms and strengthening public finances, as evidenced by successes in negotiations with the European Union and increasing trust from international financial institutions and investors. He particularly highlighted the role of the Ministry of Finance in the European integration process, coordinating activities across most negotiation chapters, with the goal of completing negotiations by the end of 2026. Regarding economic relations with Canada, Vuković assessed that there are good foundations for further improvement, recalling successful Canadian investments in Montenegro and expressing hope that Canadian companies' interest will grow, especially in energy, finance, tourism, infrastructure, and sustainable development. Cameron stated that continuing reforms is the best recommendation for attracting new investments and further economic development, reaffirming Canada's readiness to remain a reliable partner for Montenegro. The interlocutors agreed that there is significant room for further strengthening economic cooperation and connecting the business communities of both countries through increased dialogue and joint business and investment initiatives.
