Borovinić Bojović in Kolašin: Healthcare and social protection must be accessible beyond major centers
Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister for the health system and social welfare, Dr. Jelena Borovinić Bojović, visited the Kolašin Health Center today, where she spoke with its management and staff about the facility’s operations, citizens’ needs, and the challenges doctors in the municipality face every day. She was welcomed by Health Center director Milan Marković, head nurse Tatjana Šuković, pediatrician Dr. Momčilo Vukčević, legal and human resources secretary Dragana Bakić, and head of accounting Marina Perović. The visit included discussions on Kolašin’s potential for developing sports medicine, support for staffing and professional capacities, equipment, and the further development of services that would enable citizens to receive as much healthcare as possible in their own municipality. Borovinić Bojović emphasized that the quality of the healthcare system depends not only on major medical centers, but also on the strength of primary healthcare and local institutions’ ability to respond to residents’ needs. She noted that direct discussions with the management and employees of local health and social welfare institutions are important for assessing the system’s needs where services are delivered directly to citizens. “I want us to continue visiting institutions, speaking with employees, and, based on direct insight, identifying where improvements are needed and how the Government and relevant ministries can provide concrete support,” Borovinić Bojović concluded.
