User training for plant protection products held on July 7 in Pljevlja

The introductory address by representatives of the Food Safety, Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Affairs Administration highlighted the importance of professional training for users of plant protection products as a key step in establishing a sustainable pesticide use system and further aligning with European Union standards. During the one-day program, participants had the opportunity to gain and improve knowledge in plant protection, proper and responsible use of plant protection products, good agricultural practices, integrated plant protection, and organic production through expert lectures. Special attention was given to risk reduction measures, proper storage and handling of plant protection products, health and environmental risks, first aid measures in case of pesticide exposure, waste management, legal regulations, and record-keeping. The practical part of the training included lectures on application devices, practical calculations, and demonstrations of correct pesticide application, after which participants could clarify questions through discussion and consultations. Based on the issued certificate, participants will be registered in the Register of plant protection product users, after which the Food Safety, Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Affairs Administration will issue them an authorization for purchasing plant protection products, in accordance with current regulations. The Administration will continue organizing specialized courses in all regions of Montenegro, in cooperation with relevant institutions and local governments, to enable more professional users to acquire necessary knowledge and meet the conditions for safe and responsible use of plant protection products.
