Tax Administration: Over 2,000 Inspections Since the Start of the Tourist Season
The Tax Administration of Montenegro is conducting intensified inspection activities during this phase of the summer tourist season, aimed at monitoring the legality of taxpayers' operations, combating the informal economy, and creating equal business conditions for all economic entities. Irregularities in business operations were found in 343 taxpayers, resulting in 512 misdemeanor orders and fines totaling 1,781,750 euros. For the most serious violations of tax regulations, inspectors imposed temporary bans on 34 taxpayers. Oversight is carried out based on risk assessment, prioritizing taxpayers in sectors with pronounced seasonal turnover such as hospitality, retail, and accommodation services, as well as entities with previous irregularities. The Tax Administration announced that inspection activities will continue throughout the entire tourist season, with additional efforts to strengthen control over sales recording, issuance of fiscal receipts, and reporting of employed persons. Citizens are encouraged to report observed irregularities via the Kol Center at 19707 or through the platform 'Be Responsible'.
