Gorčević with Betel: Montenegro committed to becoming the 28th EU member

She reminded that Montenegro is a leader in the enlargement process because it has opened all negotiation chapters and temporarily closed 18, and emphasized the government's commitment to completing accession negotiations and securing membership in the European Union by the end of the year. "We are strongly committed to reforms and results so that Montenegro can close all remaining negotiation chapters and become the 28th member by the end of the year. After completing the technical part of negotiations and closing all chapters, the focus will be on finalizing and ratifying the Accession Treaty, which must be confirmed by all 27 EU member states," said Gorčević. She added that particular optimism is fueled by the fact that Montenegro is the only candidate country that the European Commission planned in the proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework of the EU, which is a clear confirmation that the European Union sees Montenegro as its next member. Deputy Prime Minister Betel highlighted that Luxembourg strongly supports Montenegro's progress and expressed confidence in the successful completion of the accession process, assessing that Montenegro's membership would confirm the credibility of the European Union's enlargement policy and strengthen the stability of the entire region. He confirmed Luxembourg's readiness to continue providing expert and technical support to Montenegro, especially in areas of rule of law, digital governance, and environmental protection.
