Ibrahimović: The Diaspora is one of the greatest developmental potentials and a pillar of Montenegro's international reputation
That is precisely why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its network of embassies, consulates, and honorary consuls, strives to ensure that our diplomatic and consular representations are places of encounter, trust, and cooperation — the first support for our people abroad and a reliable partner in maintaining their ties with Montenegro," he said. He emphasized that the establishment of the first Ministry of Diaspora showed that the relationship with the diaspora is one of its strategic priorities. "In times of rapid change and global challenges, unity, mutual trust, and a strong connection between the state and the diaspora are among our greatest resources," he added. During the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs awarded a humanitarian prize to Zejnil Zeko Šabović, highlighting that his long-standing humanitarian engagement is the best example of selfless giving to the community and homeland. His willingness to help whenever needed exemplifies how love for one's homeland is confirmed through deeds and how the homeland is preserved in the heart even when thousands of kilometers away," Ibrahimović stated. Congratulating Šabović and all this year's laureates, Ibrahimović said that the awards presented are an expression of gratitude for everything the members of the diaspora have done, as well as a confirmation that Montenegro knows how to appreciate its people. "Thank you for dignifiedly representing Montenegro and for proving through your deeds that love for the homeland is not measured by distance, but by the strength and permanence of the bonds we maintain with it," he concluded.
