Đaković: Synergy of services for quality and safe food

The event gathered over 100 exhibitors from Montenegro, the region, and Europe, showcasing agricultural and food products, handmade crafts, and artisanal items. Representatives of the Food Safety, Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Affairs Administration presented their work and responsibilities, with a special focus on supporting agricultural production through plant and animal health protection, food safety, providing expert information, and conducting official controls. Discussions with producers and visitors highlighted the importance of preventive measures, timely identification and reporting of harmful organisms, and adherence to production and processing requirements. The fair also featured campaigns by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), #Safe2Eat and #PlantHealth4Life, emphasizing food safety and plant health. The #Safe2Eat campaign provides information to help consumers make informed decisions about food, including safe handling, nutrition, additives, flavors, new foods, and allergen labeling. The office in Berane and the continuous strengthening of the Administration's capacities, supported generously by the MIDAS project and the World Bank, are creating conditions for this office to become the regional center of the Administration for the northern region of Montenegro.
