Celebrated Navy Day of the Navy of Montenegro in Bar

In his address to Navy personnel, Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović recalled the historical roots of Montenegrin maritime tradition and emphasized the importance of knowledge, discipline, and professionalism for the modern Navy. He stated that a country that reaches the Adriatic must be capable of protecting its interests and responding to contemporary security challenges. The minister highlighted Montenegro's clear strategic course: reliable NATO membership and a decisive path toward the European Union, noting that alliance also entails Montenegro's responsibility to contribute to collective security. Regarding Navy development, he emphasized the significance of the new Command and Naval Operations Center building, modernized radar stations and fast response boats, as well as the procurement of two new patrol ships. Connecting these vessels with the operational center, along with a modern maritime surveillance and management system, will provide a comprehensive system ensuring sovereignty, economic interests, and support in fulfilling obligations to partners and allies," said the minister. Chief of the General Staff of the Montenegrin Army, Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanović, reminded that Navy Day is a day to honor those who serve Montenegro honorably at sea and along the coast. During the ceremony, acting Navy Commander of the Montenegrin Army, Captain of the Corvette Slobodan Tomašević, also spoke, emphasizing the importance of daily engagement by Navy personnel and thanking them for their dedicated work, professionalism, and responsibility in executing their tasks.
