Authorities expand cooperation with Ukraine

In connection with the Renovator project, the Civil Contingencies Agency has entered into a cooperation agreement with Ukraine's Ministry of Defense. The agency's collaborations in Ukraine now span the entire spectrum of total defense and demonstrate that support for Ukraine remains one of the agency's highest priorities. The agreement will also make it easier for the agency, or other Swedish authorities involved in the project, to enter into other types of agreements with local actors. "Rehabilitation is a prerequisite for individuals to regain their independence and continue to be a force for their community," says Ronak Bozorgi Nord, Program Director for Sweden's Renovator project. "If the population knows that the armed forces take good care of their soldiers, both in combat and in injury, it can strengthen the will to defend." The Civil Contingencies Agency was assigned responsibility for project implementation with support from the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, the Fortifications Agency, and the National Board of Health and Welfare, as part of a government assignment.
